The major advantage of this karaoke player is it’s mp3 compatibility. Other karaoke machines require you to purchase karaoke discs (karaoke CDG’s) in order to play music. CD karaoke players limit the variety of music you can listen to and also cost A LOT more in the long run. 

With this machine, you can put on all your favourite tunes. Whether it’s the soundtrack from Tarzan or your favourite Beatles album. This one should be a must buy for every family home.

2- Emerson GM527 DVD/CDG Karaoke Player

The Emerson GM527 is a perfect travel companion to take to Granma’s for the holidays. Plays dvds, cds, and karaoke. You can put the kids in the closet with a few packs of batteries and a pair of headphones and not see them until it’s time to go. The perfect karaoke machine for the entire family. I bought this kids karaoke machine as a Christmas present for my children. I wanted to do a test run before the big day though, so I tried it out in the basement while my kids were sleeping. The next day, my son reported that he was dreaming about drunk singing reindeer. Coincidence? You decide!

The one downside I noticed was the noise of the machine itself. You can actually hear the discs rotating. Fortunately, the noise of the machine is not loud enough to be that noticeable. The only time it can be a pain is during the transition from one song to the next. 

Overall, the Emerson GM527 is a fairly good product. It has a few minor setbacks and it costs a little bit more than the other machines on this list. But the added price is understandable with the gorgeous video screen that’s featured on the front of the karaoke player.

3- Hannah Montana Karaoke Machine

This one surprised me. I could have told you before testing the Emerson GM527 that it was going to be a good karaoke machine. Emerson is known for creating really awesome products. On the other hand,

Disney…. Sure, they make great family films, and are a very popular company, but their novelty products are often less than stellar. Disney puts most of their efforts into the blockbusters that they create, the products of those blockbusters are usually a money grab. But… the Hanah Montana Karaoke Machine is far from a sell out.

Disney got it right with this one! The quality of this machine surprised the heck out of me. Lookin’ at some of the internal specifics, this machine can outperform many of the Emerson models. The feature that sets this machine apart though, is the ability to portray your image onto your TV Screen. So, not only can you sing like a rockstar, you can look like one too.

4- Singing Machine SML-383 Review

This a great option if you want save a bit of money. It’s definitely not the nicest karaoke machine on the list. In fact, it’s the cheapest one available. It’ll only cost you around 40 dollars and it works just fine. Some customers have complained that the materials are cheap and too much plastic. But what can you expect at this price point. If you have a few extra bucks, I’d recommend another kids karaoke machine. This is the affordable pick.

Are you fussy with sound quality and small details??? This product is not meant to be perfect, It’s meant to get the job done and be affordable. There’s support for two microphone jacks and it’s compatible with all karaoke CDG’s. If you have younger children, they probably wouldn’t notice a difference between the machines on this list anyways. They would be just thrilled to take part in some good ol’ karaoke fun.

This is by far the best CHEAP karaoke machine. If price is your main concern, then this is one to pick.

This also has a lighting system that is like a disco so that a person can give a party a little more life. This SML-383 has a CDG player with jacks for two microphones that have separate controls for volume for people that want to duet. When a person gets the portable karaoke machine model SML-383, the box will have in it an AC adapter, wired microphone, sampler disc, RCA cables and instruction manual. It also has in the machine itself the CDG or Compact Disc and Graphics that is information that is stored that has data and music on a CD. It means that the CDG has output for video that is for graphics that are simple.

 When this feature is used on the karaoke machine the function of the graphics are for displaying the song lyrics that goes along to the music that also stores the song lyrics. When a person sings the displayed lyrics, the color will change because of the CDG software. A person just needs a regular TV to have this feature work. 

The next feature that the SML-383 has is the echo that is feedback in a singer’s voice that is minor. This is something that adds resonance and depth. This of course will not do anything to the music that a person is singing. Another of these features is the AVC that is a tool that is useful that will help in a learning session. However, this does not work with regular audio recordings only with the multiplex recordings.

Why I’m Impressed

The Memorex Singstand is a notable karaoke machine because of the high praise it’s been given from customers.

If you check the reviews of other karaoke machines that are available, you’ll notice that the average customer review is about 3 out of 5 starts. The Memorex Singstand blows that score out of the water.

I would even go as far as to say that it’s the highest rated karaoke machine available. 

The Memorex MKS-SS1 Singstand has dual microphone capability. This allows your friends and family to perform duets. This is a very important feature because the duets can be a lot of fun and a great bonding experience.

The mic stand design is perfect for any music lover. As opposed to a normal karaoke machine, you can look and feel like your the lead singer in your favourite band.

The main cool feature of the Memorex Singstand that impressed me the most is the voice eliminator. This function allows you to adjust the vocals of a music track. So if you want the help of your favourite singer, then you can leave the voice eliminator untouched.

If you want to be a one artist show, then you can use the voice eliminator feature to ONLY play the instrumentals.

It’s important to note that this karaoke machine is not perfect. The only gripe I have is that it’s only mp3 compatible. Which means it does not play karaoke discs at all.

However, the mp3 compatibility was a major plus for me. Karaoke discs can be expensive, and with mp3 compatibility, I can load any track I want straight off my IPOD.

IMO – MP3 > DISCS
